The 'typical illusion'

About an year back one of my doctor clearly explained a known fact to me stating the proverb 'The grass is always greener on the other side' which means the other circumstances seem more desirable than one's own but in reality are often not.

At that point I was not ready to accept the fact that someone else's state of life maybe more disturbing than mine. I was just not ready to see that there is something that I do have which another person needs. I just saw the downside of my own life and kept on comparing my life to someone who has everything which I never actually needed in the first place and ignored the fact that there might be something that is missing in their lives too.

Even after he tried his best to make me understand, I was just too adamant to even take his words and think over it once. As time passed by, I started seeing the difference in everyone's lives. At that moment, the first thing that hit my mind was the proverb he stated. It turned out to be so true that at one point I saw others whom I knew were also thinking in the same way that someone else's life or something they're studying or what they have is so much better as they just see their life with just their naked eye and never really saw their sufferings.

So I learnt at that point that, we all see one thing and say 'I'm suffering the most' or 'his/her life is the best' these are the most common things I get to hear every now and then. If for once we'd open our eyes and really see what is the reality, we would actually be happy seeing that there is something which we have if not everything. And just assuming that our life is the worst or anything as such is purely wrong when we dig deep and think about it. Even now I do feel that 'the other side is greener' but even then if my side of the garden would be totally shredded, I'd still see atleast a small leaf which would be green.
Try and think of it once. It'll make life easier.!
